Nestled at the base of Engineer Mountain and the Twilight Peaks, the Durango Nordic Center offers visitors some of the most stunning terrain in Colorado. We have 25 km of trails groomed trails groomed daily for skate skiing and classic skiing, and 8 km of trails maintained for snowshoeing. We are located across the highway from Purgatory Resort, about a third of a mile to the north.
PASSES: You can purchase your season pass or day pass at the Nordic Center or in advance online. You must have a trail pass to access both ski and snowshoe trails. There are different rates for snowshoe and ski day passes.
LESSONS & RENTALS: Advance reservations are requested for lessons and rentals. Please visit our lessons and rentals pages to make your purchases.
DOGS: Unfortunately, we do not allow dogs on our trails. If you are looking for a dog-friendly Nordic outing, Vallecito Nordic is a great option. Some of the trails at Chicken Creek Nordic also permit dogs.
FAT BIKES: Fat biking is not permitted at the Durango Nordic Center.
WEATHER: Current snow conditions (depth, precip, snow water equivalent, etc.) can be monitored via the Cascade #2 Snowtel site, which is located on the North Loop.
Due to varying snow levels and plowing operations, access to the Nordic ski and snowshoe trails can be challenging without using stairs. For our visitors with disabilities, please feel free to call ahead to check on conditions. We would be happy to help provide guidance and/or assistance if needed.
